A Point of Sale with more and more features!

In this blog, we will share some comments about the incredible work done by Odoo with its POS or TPV (Point of Sale and/or Terminal Point of Sale) as it is capable of combining the functionalities of inventory and billing applications and integrating them with hardware (scanners, printers, IoT cash registers...) to achieve better performance from the activities carried out in each of its stores and centralize them in one place.

Therefore, an employee starting their workday in a store in downtown Buenos Aires can log in and visually see on the screen each of the products available in the establishment, grouped on the left side of the screen by categories or best-selling products, making it easier to find them when a customer arrives at the register.

They can also put a purchase on hold or temporarily open while a consumer goes to retrieve a product they forgot on the shelf or in a fitting room. Meanwhile, the employee can continue processing purchases and attending to other customers, and then return to the one that was on hold and continue with the payment until the customer completes the payment to hand them their ticket, which can also be configured in the backend to customize it and include a thank you or farewell message. Every detail counts, no matter how small, to please the customer! And... why not add them to your customer list to offer them reward and loyalty programs?

And since we are talking about these configurations, it is important to highlight that Odoo allows each store or location to be configured separately, although all the information from the locations flows into the ERP. For example, if in addition to a store in Buenos Aires we have another store in Brazil, we can:

  • Create different product categories by location and their importance by country so that they are positioned on the POS screen according to their order of importance.
  • Specify a different type of currency for each POS at each location.
  • Indicate the allowed payment method at one location and another (for example, cash or credit card).

And since the POS is integrated with the sales module, apply specific price lists to offer seasonal discounts or customer loyalty programs by location or country.

The employee who opened the store located in downtown Buenos Aires is about to close their workday, so they proceed to log out and validate it in the system. All the activity they have performed, such as sales, refunds, etc., is recorded, and they can now go home worry-free knowing that the person who replaces them will only have to log in and focus on serving the customers who come to their register as they deserve.
